Half baked in Rajasthan

I was finally strong enough to leave Agra, but my timing couldn’t have been worse, since the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu scheduled his visit on the day of my departure.

I already made a video about the Indian traffic jams earlier, so you know what I was up against, especially that the situation was spiced up with some additional roadblocks just to really make sure ...

Delirium by the Taj Mahal

After escaping from Chandigarh I went to Rishikesh, which is a massive tourist trap. But to be honest, after this gigantic concrete nightmare I was craving for cute cafés and hostels with colorful walls.

Although the heart chakra of the Earth is in Dobogókő (Hungary) -Hahahah-, all the yoga chakras unite in Rishikesh under the protecting wings of a gigantic yoga cartel. I knew that everything was ...

My gf likes it soft, too

We travel in many ways. Everyone has different needs and priorities, but nevertheless, to travel by motorbike is different from any other means of transportation. For that, everyone pretty much needs the same set of stuff you need to place on your bike that somehow has always too little space, and you need to securely fasten them, and they also need to be waterproof. Also, it’s a plus if the 2-3 luggages don’t cost as much as the motorbike ...

Madness, maxed out

Lahore is absolute madness! While it still belonged to India, it has been the capital of the Mughal Empire, and then the anyways grandiose mughal architecture got a Victorian upgrade from the commonwealth. This is then spiced up with decay worse than in India, smog that covers everything, and the pulsing of 10 million inhabitants.

Smile I got a gun!

I was really happy to get to Taftan by 1PM, because I thought then I wouldn’t have to sleep at the police station, and I could continue to Quetta. But obviously things aren’t always going the way little Tom imagines it. After the border a guy with a machine gun showed me to the police station, locked the door behind me. It’s too late today, we are not going anywhere further. Tomorrow night!

Full throttle into the nothing

I got the least looked forward part of my trip. I had to ride across the Dast-e Lut desert in Iran, then drive through Balochistan along the Afghan border with armed forces securing me.

img_4591.jpg

I tried to look for a travel buddy for this border crossing, but I’ve only managed to find a German dude, who was posting way too many Coelho quotes about the meaning of life and other crap for my taste, so I opted out.

On the bus in the shadow of the Ayatollah

You can’t say you have been in a country until you haven’t used the local public transportation. This is obviously in controversy to doing my entire trip on motorbike, but in Iran I made an exception.

My brother was coming to visit me, and one day before his departure I noticed that my back tire is a lot more damaged than I remembered. I guess I could do another 2-3000 km with it, maybe more, but chances are it will go totally broken ...

People were brewing beer at home in Iran when only Belgian breweries were considered cool in the West. After all, Persians have been one step ahead of us all since the Ancient times.

When I was in Nagorno-Karabakh, I knew it was gonna be an incredible road between Armenia and Iran. It took me quite a while to arrive, but not because it was long, nor because I had difficulties on the border. But because I kept stopping to take ...

The Christians of pothole land

I don’t think anyone could have discovered Georgia more properly. Maybe somewhat differently but not better for sure. So after over 24 days, I decided it’s time to move on to Armenia.

Armenia was the first officially Christian country, that means I’ll have more mountainside churches to battle. Templed out! I can’t say I have an ambivalent relationship with religion. I think it’s net bullshit. If ...

Four legs good, two legs bad

Suddenly I’ve found my sad self alone, in the rainy Batumi. At least I know I’m A in self-pity. I just didn’t feel like doing anything. And when that happens, I simply just don’t do anything. Which is actually not even true, because I was working on the blog, and had to fix some stuff. Apparently I haven’t been away long enough to be able to leave those errands completely behind and focus solely on travelling.
